Your Opportunity:

The East Calgary Family Care Clinic (ECFCC) is known for its innovative approach to providing comprehensive primary care for people with complex needs. This could be any combination of chronic illnesses, psychosocial stressors, and/or addictions along with social or economic factors that negatively impact health. The ECFCC team is composed of over fifty team members and eight different professions. This position is responsible for assessments, treatment and follow-up of clients with complex needs. The Psychologist I works within a large multidisciplinary team and provides psychological services to patients with significant symptom severity and impact on function where a strong breadth and/or specialization of knowledge is required. The Psychologist provides individual or group therapy utilizing evidence-based modalities including but not limited to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), psycho-educational therapy; liaising with a variety of stakeholders, and assisting other team members as required. There is an opportunity to participate in program planning and development and to provide supervision to students in the clinic. Key Responsibilities: Makes independent clinical decisions, within professional practice guidelines, to assure the safety of clients and the community as well as to plan appropriate assessment and intervention modalities. Provides psychological clinical leadership through consultation and collaboration with interprofessional team. Provides crisis intervention and support. Determines appropriate assessment protocols, objectives and formulates a treatment plan in accordance with ethical and professional standards. Documents patient interactions in a manner that facilitates interprofessional communication and professional standards.

Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

2-4 years’ experience working in community mental health. Demonstrated understanding of Substance Use. Demonstrated understanding of Concurrent Disorders. Ability to use Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Experience with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)/Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) or other specialized trauma treatment. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability within a complex and rapidly changing environment and may involve working with clients who present with criminal or suicidal tendencies, potential exposure to violence and aggression. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience and proficiency in administering and interpreting psychological testing protocols is preferred. Certification in a trauma protocol such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy or Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) would be an asset. The ability to perform assessments, such as Cognitive Assessments and/or Psychological Assessments, is strongly preferred. Experience in Primary Care. Experience using Connect Care.
