Your Opportunity:

This clinical position works with or within teams to provide psychology services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. The position involves provision of advanced clinical services (including formal psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention); consultation and education to the inter-professional team and patients/families, and supervision of psychology residents, masters level interns, provisionally registered psychologists, psychometrists and team members as appropriate and required. A specialization in treatment of complex families and youth, particularly in working with families living with trauma, will be an asset to the position. You will be patient centered, and family centered in your care practices, following Recovery Alberta Values and Policies. Red Deer has an overarching Children's Team focus, supporting all other programs in the portfolio as needed. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Psychological services, including risk assessment, formal assessment, individual therapy and development and facilitation of educational/psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and clinical skills as well as group facilitation skills. Must be coupled with the ability to be self-directed, highly motivated and work effectively within a team environment. Five years’ experience in working with multi-systemic complex families from a trauma informed perspective is required. A strong working relationship and ability to collaborate with the program Psychiatrists will be required for this position. Given this is a temporary position, the successful candidate will not require clinical supervision for the provision of formal assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong technological skills considered an asset regarding the use of computers, Microsoft Suite, and AHS internal software.
