Join us in shaping the future of pediatric virtual healthcare through the Stollery Centre for Excellence in Virtual Health — a bold initiative driving innovation and integration of safe, appropriate, and patient-centered virtual care across the pediatric journey. Our work spans local communities as well as rural, remote, and Indigenous populations throughout Alberta and the Stollery Children’s Hospital catchment area. The Centre offers expertise in project management, change management, and evaluation for initiatives ranging from small-scale improvements to complex, multi-faceted projects. These projects include optimizing and expanding existing virtual care connections, introducing new modalities, and collaborating across multiple Stollery programs, AHS departments and zones, often involving external stakeholders and interdependent initiatives. As a Project Manager, you will possess a blend of soft skills, such as communication, adaptability, and leadership, and hard skills in planning and oversight, leveraging your experience, skills and resources to actively lead and contribute to the success of transformative projects that redefine how pediatric virtual care is delivered. This role is located at the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre. Although rare, you may be required to travel outside of Edmonton area. Evening and weekend availability may occasionally be necessary.
Description:
In this role, the Project Manager (PM), reports to the Senior Project Manager. As part of a cross-functional, collaborative team-based environment and the PM will be expected to lead the entire project lifecycle and actively contribute to core outputs including but not limited to project charters, project management plans, work breakdown structures, project schedules, status reports, implementation and transition plans and closure reports. This role leads risk and issue identification and response planning, monitoring, and reporting. Having a solid understanding of Change management processes the PM will integrate change management activities and contribute to the development of resources and materials such as process maps and training and communication plans. The PM is a motivated, independent, adaptable collaborator and effective communicator with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders, develop and facilitate presentations and meetings. A key component will be to utilize your critical thinking skills to analyze problems, devise solutions, and apply them effectively. Your knowledge and experience in virtual care, pediatric, acute, or ambulatory healthcare settings will be crucial to successfully executing projects and contributing to the Centre’s broader goals. Your experience and knowledge as leader of innovation and change, is responsible to define, organize and execute key organizational, operational, and strategic initiatives within the Centre. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions, communicate effectively, and inspire confidence in others. Success contributors in this role are the ability to prioritize, work independently, quality project planning, timely delivery of project milestones, and the ability to drive actionable outcomes across virtual care initiatives.

Post-secondary degree in a health care profession, business, or related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare project management, with a strong understanding of project management principles, tools, and methodologies. Experience coordinating and leading teams through project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation. Project management or change management education, training, and experience. Post-Secondary Diploma or Certification in project management or change management from an accredited institution. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Teams and Visio. The Centre utilizes Microsoft suite of tools that are embedded within Teams channels.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a unique project environment with limited resources and subject matter expert availability. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Virtual health initiatives such as digital Remote Patient Monitoring or telehealth. Training in process improvement. A broad understanding of healthcare and related issues is crucial, along with strong critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Exemplary skills in developing and facilitating presentations is highly preferred.
