Your Opportunity:

The Program Manager of Clinical Standards is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical standards of care and specialized practice frameworks that support safe, evidence-informed patient care across Emergency Health Services, Mobile Integrated Health (MIH), and other specialized clinical programs. The Program Manager is responsible for leading the development, review, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Medical Control Protocols (MCPs), ensuring they reflect current evidence, clinical best practice, and organizational priorities. The role also provides leadership and coordination for the development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the Critical Care Medical Control Protocols (CCMCPs) in collaboration with Air Ambulance Operations, Medical Directors, and STARS contract service partners to support the delivery of safe, consistent, and high-quality critical care transport services.

Description:

Reporting to the Program Chief within the Clinical Practice program area, the Program Manager leads the Clinical Standards of Care Team and works collaboratively with Medical Directors, Operational Leadership, Patient Safety, Knowledge Creation and Translation, Curriculum Development, Clinical Training and Support, and frontline practitioners to ensure clinical standards remain current, effective, and aligned with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and emerging best practices. The role provides program leadership and quality assurance activities for the MCPs, CCMCPs, MIH, Online Medical Consultation (OLMC) standards, Specialized Treatment Protocols (STPs), specialty clinical guidelines, practitioner engagement initiatives, and the development of innovative models of care. The Program Manager of Clinical Standards will also work closely with the Digital Tools and Curriculum team in advancing the organization's clinical knowledge management strategy by ensuring clinical standards, protocols, and practice resources are effectively governed, published, and accessed through modern digital platforms that support safe, efficient, and evidence-informed frontline care.

Required Qualifications:

Registration as an Advanced Care Paramedic or other healthcare equivalent. An undergraduate degree in healthcare or equivalent. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered. Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive clinical and leadership experience in EMS, healthcare, or a related healthcare environment. A solid background/knowledge of EHS-Alberta. Ability to make sound decisions independently or in collaboration with others amid shifting and often competing priorities, interests, and potential outcomes. The ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Sound knowledge of data quality management, statistical analysis, and data visualization, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Visio, SharePoint and Planner Premium.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field. Practical experience in strategy, policy/protocol development, leadership and program and project management is an asset.
