Surgical Care Alberta (SCA) is a new provincial program within ACA that serves as a provincial hub for surgical expertise, standardization, planning and innovation. In the role of Program Director, SCA Business Operations & Oversight, you will be a pivotal member of the SCA leadership team in collaboration with the Program Director for Surgery Allocation & Wait Times, along with the SCA Senior Lead and Executive Directors. As a member of the SCA leadership team you will be responsible for provincial reporting regarding surgical business operations, as well as resource validation, supporting allocation and planning, and accountability oversight in partnership with the greater SCA leadership team. As this is a provincial program, this position’s location is negotiable and may be eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement. Description:
The Director for Business Operations and Oversight is a senior provincial leadership role within Surgical Care Alberta. Reporting to the executive director, this position provides strategic direction and expert oversight in financial management, resource allocation, financial forecasting, and financial performance surveillance to inform innovative and transformative change within the provincial surgical care system as a collaborative member of the SCA leadership team. Leveraging a deep expertise in financial resource management and business analytics, the Director leads the development and execution of innovative strategies to enhance and optimize financial efficiency, accountability, and system responsiveness to address key organizational priorities. The Director for Business Operations and Oversight work across Health Service Delivery Organizations (Acute care and chartered surgical facilities), other branches within Acute Care Alberta, and the Ministry for Hospital and Surgical Health Services in ensuring surgical services are delivered in a fiscally responsible and sustainable way to meet the strategic objectives of the organization. As a recognized subject matter expert, the Director navigates unique, complex challenges and contributes to shaping the strategic plan and direction of surgical care in Alberta. The director is also responsible for leading the development of surgery business reporting standards, evaluating existing models for surgical case costing, and influencing downstream resource allocation associated with surgical activity.

10+ Years of progressing leadership experience in healthcare funding, financial strategy, and health system performance. Proven experience in stakeholder management, governance coordination, and policy implementation. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment including stakeholder engagement with health service delivery organizations, contractors, and government employees within the hospital and surgical health services portfolio Ability to be discreet in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information. Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences and to foster partnerships with key stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Effective change management skills. Strong financial acumen and ability to translate economic and operational data into actionable strategy. Exceptional verbal and written communication, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing and maintaining high-level relationships with government, health authorities, and provider organizations. Post-graduate or MBA in Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Economics or a related discipline. Current CPA designation.
