Within Addictions and Mental Health, the Acute Mental Health and Addiction programs at the RDRHC is offering this unique and enrichening internship opportunity to Psychology students from the University of Alberta. The Post-Secondary student fulfills an integral, multifaceted role within the program and will work closely with the psychologist and as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. The foundation of our programs is to build on fostering hope and optimism, individualization of services, a belief in inclusion, supporting diversity, enhancing community connection and integration, living with meaning and purpose, focusing on strengths and abilities. This position will specifically be supporting psychologists in administering appropriate screening tools and assessments to both adult and youth patients at red deer regional hospital on inpatient psychiatric units.
Description:
Under the supervision and guidance of a psychologist, the student will engage in a wide variety of professional activities including co-facilitation of process and psycho-educational groups, assist clients in the development of individualized SMART goals and provide ongoing support with goal attainment, work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide daily support to patients and families as needed, active involvement of clinical meetings and patient recovery reviews, administration and scoring of psychological assessments, participation in collecting and analyzing data for program outcome measures, assistance with program development and evaluation projects, support presentation and training sessions, and research opportunities.

Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program, 4th year, at University of Alberta, in a psychology or relevant program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum Education Required is an undergraduate degree program; Area(s) of Study: Humanities and Social Sciences, Anthropology, Classical Studies, Communication, Creative Writing, Criminology, East Asian Studies, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, Film Studies, Greek and Latin, History, Human Ecology, Human Geography, Latin American Studies, Linguistics, Marketing, Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, Native Studies, Philosophy and Religion, Planning - Urban and Land Use, Political Science, Psychology, Science, Technology and Society, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies.
Preferred Qualifications:Work/volunteer experience in the field of human services.
