Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT); or with the applicable Alberta regulatory college for the professions of, but not limited to Respiratory Therapist, Electroneurophysiology Technologist, Electroencephalography Technologist; Registered Nurse; or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Applicants who do not currently hold Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification with the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) must obtain certification within six months of meeting BRPT clinical hour eligibility. If not an RPSGT then graduation from a community college, polytechnic institute, or university in a related health care field is required, along with active registration with an applicable Alberta regulatory college (e.g., RRT, ENP Technologist, EEG Technologist, RN, LPN). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is required. Applicants must demonstrate working knowledge of cardiovascular, respiratory, and sleep anatomy and physiology, along with strong patient assessment and communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and engage positively with patients, families, physicians, and staff. Excellent organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and prioritization skills are essential, as is a professional, positive, and self-motivated approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active BRPT registration. BRPT Pediatric Sleep Certificate. BRPT Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH). Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) certification from the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM). Recent experience in pediatric PSG, NIV mask fitting, and hospital-based sleep labs. Current knowledge of American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines. Graduation from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy with active CRTA registration is an asset.
