Plumber / Steamfitter
Your Opportunity:
Under limited supervision, performs a full range of journeyman level plumbing, steam and gas fitting duties utilizing considerable initiative and judgment and in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, including plumbing, gas fitting medical gas and building codes, regulations and department policy. Representative duties include: Maintaining, commissioning, monitoring, trouble shooting, analyzing performance and repairing of mechanical equipment and systems including monitoring, testing, trouble shooting, documenting, analyzing performance, installing, repairing, maintaining and servicing plumbing, medical gas, domestic hot & cold water, tempered water, glycol, chilled water, natural gas, storm and sanitary sewer, steam and hot water heating and associated distribution and control systems and equipment. Recommends the design of the above systems on new projects and the replacement, modification and major repair of existing systems. Installs mechanical systems including distribution and control systems, fixtures and other components and equipment as required. Supervises/collaborates with other trades, contractors, consultants and engineers. Inspects new construction and renovations projects. Completes Preventative Maintenance including checking & recording new equipment as per standards, tests and services existing equipment (medical gas, steam, hot water heating, chilled water etc.). Miscellaneous activities include pricing/estimating of materials and repairs, ordering materials and supplies, review and upgrade of mechanical systems drawings, completing work orders.
Description:
As a Plumber/Steamfitter plans, you will perform a range of journeyperson level duties associated with the installation and plumbing services and piping systems, fixtures, equipment and controls used to transport water, waste, gas, air, and steam. You will be responsible for monitoring, testing, trouble shooting, documenting and analyzing performance of high and low pressure steam, hot water heating, associated distribution and control systems and equipment , plumbing, medical gas, domestic hot & cold water, tempered water, glycol, chilled water, natural gas, storm and sanitary sewer. In addition, you will prepare feasibility and cost estimates and reports and request or order supplies.

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Plumber and Journeyperson Steamfitter-Pipefitter certificates from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
Additional Required Qualifications:Journeyperson Certificates: plumber and gasfitter – class B and Steamfitter-Pipefitter for the Province of Alberta. AWWA Certified Cross Connection Control Tester. 2+ years of institutional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Journeyperson Gasfitter - Class A. Registered Cross Connection Control Tester for the City of Calgary. 2+ years of hospital experience.
