Your Opportunity:
The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) Redevelopment and Expansion is a $1.8B Major Capital Project (MCP) that includes the concurrent design and construction of a New Patient Tower (NPT) on the existing hospital site and a new Ambulatory Care Building (ACB) nearby. Once the NPT construction is complete, extensive renovations will begin within the existing hospital. The overall project will expand over the next 8–10 years. This position plays a key role within the AHS RDRHC Project Management Office, reports to the Logistics Program Lead. The Logistics Planner will work closely with Alberta Infrastructure and key internal stakeholders across the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be proactive, exercise sound judgment, and handle time-sensitive requests effectively. They must be able to work independently, resolve issues, and build strong relationships in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Description:
Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in architecture, building, engineering, or construction, preferably within a healthcare environment. Solid understanding of project management principles, tools, and methodologies. Proven ability to coordinate with key stakeholders and provide technical expertise to ensure projects stay on track and onsite issues are resolved promptly. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and track project progress effectively. Working knowledge of: Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) requirements, Building Codes and construction standards, Building systems, inspections, and related reporting requirements. Skills in critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, investigation, and negotiation. Ability to self-manage, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting project needs.

Diploma in a related architecture, building, or engineering technology program and/or Journeyman Trade Certificate. Minimum of 3-5 years of related commercial or institutional construction project coordination experience, with a preference for experience in a healthcare environment. Strong understanding of construction logistics and sequencing. Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., schedules, trackers, communication plans). Experience planning or executing departmental relocations, equipment installations, and system shutdowns. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications. Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., OH&S, Building Codes, CSA healthcare standards). Demonstrated experience working in active construction environments—ideally in occupied healthcare facilities—with an understanding of infection prevention and control (IPC) considerations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and Teams); knowledge of e-Facilities, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam is an asset.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and urgent timelines independently. A combination of education and directly related experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Alberta Health Services (AHS) internal policies and procedures is preferred. Knowledge of AHS e-Facilities software is an asset.
