This position will have you working in the specialized outpatient urogynecology and chronic pelvic pain women's programs. Our program is unique in pelvic health as you have the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacist, dietician and exercise therapist. This is a highly specialized area of sensitive practice. You would be responsible for providing comprehensive pelvic health assessment, consultation and treatment for women of various ages and backgrounds. You would be responsible to provide hands on internal assessments and treatment, as well as education and exercise prescription for women requiring pelvic health services. You would be utilizing pain science in the treatment of pelvic pain. The Royal Alexandra Hospital Rehabilitation Department strives to provide excellent patient centered care through ongoing education, mentorship and implementation of evidence based and best practice strategies. The Rehabilitation Services Department provides excellent learning opportunities through professional practice lead events as well supporting ongoing professional growth and quality improvement initiatives. The Women's team takes every opportunity to share their unique knowledge and experience with each other.
Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:Active registration with the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta (CPTA) is required and must be registered with CPTA for the Restricted Activity of Internal Exams. Heart and Stroke CPR (BLS-HCP) is required. Minimum 2 years’ experience in the assessment and treatment of urogynecological conditions (including internal exams) is required. Completion of the "Intro to Pelvic Health Level 1" Part 1 and 2 course or equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Level 2 Lower Extremity Orthopedics or equivalent courses for spine and lower extremity manual therapy and/or equivalent chronic pelvic pain courses are preferred; OR must be completed within first year of employment. Licensed in Acupuncture or IMS is an asset.
