Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Must have at least 1 year of experience with assessing and treating a variety of complex patient populations within an acute care hospital and ambulatory setting. Experience working in a critical care setting is required. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up. You are able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impacts, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate to effectively plan treatments and discharges from hospital. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who is flexible in using their time effectively by prioritizing competing tasks. Knowledge and experience of the application of the Destination Home philosophy and awareness of community resources in the Edmonton zone is required. You have effective teaching skills for students and other professionals. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Netcare, Outlook and other electronic medical records are required. Knowledge of chronic disease management and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care training is an asset. General license preferred. 1-2 years of experience in the last 5 years in an AHS acute care setting preferred. Experience with complex patient populations (chronic disease management, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, end of life, post ICU, and transplants) is preferred. Experience with different environments (acute, community, LTC) is an asset. Experience assigning, supervising, and evaluating tasks provided to therapy assistants is preferred.
