Physiotherapist I
Your Opportunity:
The South Health Campus has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. This Physiotherapist I position is part of the Allied Health team. Under general supervision from the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the PT Clinical Practice Lead, the current caseload for this position is providing assessment and treatment of patients referred to outpatient (Bone and Joint Clinics) and inpatient orthopedic and surgical programs with coverage and assistance to other acute care areas. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload to keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary patient care environment, are required. Problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills, are also essential in this position. The position offers the opportunity to participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services unique to South Health Campus. The position involves weekend coverage on a rotational basis. All staff hired into the SHC Allied Health Department may be required to work in a variety of settings across the Campus. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations. This position is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and/or equipment.
Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working as a physiotherapist in the following settings: a multidisciplinary clinic with post-surgical patients, an Adult urban acute care/hospital, and/or an inpatient orthopedic environment. Knowledge of the Alberta Bone and Joint Health Institute’s Care Paths for Hip and Knee Conditions. Greater than 3 years' experience working as a physiotherapist. Experience with Connect Care and completion of the Allied Health Therapies ILT.
