Your Opportunity:

This full-time permanent Physiotherapist position is based out of the Northwest Health Centre in High Level, AB. The town of High Level is located in the scenic northwestern reaches of Alberta. Residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including fishing, golfing, hockey, hunting, camping and swimming, just to name a few. With a population of approximately 3,900 and serving a trade area of 26,000, High Level offers a bustling economy with the local service area committed to ensuring their residents have access to optimal healthcare. You will work closely within a Rehab team consisting of PT, OT, RT, SLP, and Recreation in a multidisciplinary environment. It’s an opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings with clients of all ages. You will have the opportunity to work in acute care, outpatients and long term care settings and will have the ability to work to your full scope of your practice. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
