Your Opportunity:

The Physician Assistant (PA) at Olds Hospital supports the Acute Care (Hospitalist) service and Long-Term Care program by contributing to the assessment, management, and coordination of patient care. Working under the supervision of the Most Responsible Physician (MRP), the PA participates in daily inpatient care, documentation, admissions and discharges, and facilitates continuity of care across services. This role is designed to support physician workflow, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the quality and continuity of patient care within both the hospital and Long-Term Care settings. Community & Hospital Information: Olds is home to a population of 13,119 and serves a regional market of over 45,000 people. Olds is a laid-back, friendly rural community with big city amenities. Located within an hour; drive from Calgary and Red Deer, Olds is the ideal location for business that needs easy access to major transportation routes like Highway 2, Highway 27 and 22. Olds is recognized as the primary health services centre for the areas rural population and is home to a well-equipped and modern emergency hospital with new surgical rooms.

Description:

Key Responsibilities: Acute Care (Hospitalist Service). Participate in daily rounds on admitted patients. Perform patient assessments, including history and physical examination. Document progress notes and update the electronic medical record. Maintain and update problem lists and care plans. Assist with patient admissions. Complete discharge summaries and discharge documentation. Coordinate investigations, consultations, and follow-up care. Long-Term Care support as operationally required. Emergency Department Support as operationally required. Assist with patient assessments and documentation. Support coordination of care to improve patient flow.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Certification with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants. Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Current BLS, NRP, ACLS.
