Your Opportunity:

Practicing within their full scope, the Pharmacy Technician performs all aspects of drug distribution to support the effective daily operation of departmental services and programs, contributing to safe and effective patient care. Your opportunity is to join the Central Zone rural site pharmacy teams as a casual with the opportunity to cover multiple sites. Exact sites covered to be determined with successful applicant. Core duties of Pharmacy Technician I, may include, but are not limited to: Preparation, repackaging and final product checking, individual patient prescriptions, and ward stock. Providing guidance and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Providing clinical support by obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation, clarifying discrepancies, and organizing information to support direct patient care. Building collaborative relationships with all members of the healthcare team, including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, and triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs assessing proficiency in tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics, and preparing reports as required.

Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment. Demonstrated computer and word processing skills. Commitment to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to computer order entry and sterile compounding. Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
