Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications:Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to checking, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding and all aspects of drug distribution such as ward stock, and narcotics. 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in pediatrics required. 2 years + experience and recent certification in sterile compounding and non-sterile compounding. 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in all aspects of Chemotherapy; including but not limited to receiving, embedded worksheet setup, recent certification for preparation, checking and medication distribution. 1 year + Connect Care/Epic computer program experience required. Knowledge of Epic and day to day use of the application. Experience with medication reconciliation in a clinical setting. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking. It is a requirement to be able to work with chemotherapy and/or hazardous drugs. It is a requirement to be able to work at our satellite NICU at Foothills Medical Center. It is a requirement to be able to work all shifts including on-call duty (2245-0700). Must have excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent customer service attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:Investigational and Special Access Drugs knowledge. Recent ACH experience. Active membership with a pharmacy professional organization such as PTSA and/or CAPhO. Preference given to individuals with recent pediatric and/or oncology experience. Connect Care/Epic WIP and WAM experience will be viewed as an asset as will current chemotherapy IV certification status. Experience with medication reconciliation in a clinical setting. 6 months + experience in retail pharmacy setting preferred.
