Pharmacist I
Your Opportunity:
Are you a motivated and adaptable Pharmacist looking to make a meaningful impact in patient care? AHS is seeking a skilled professional to join our pharmacy team at Foothills Medical Centre. In this clinically deployed role, you will work collaboratively with the Hospitalist service to optimize pharmacotherapy for medically complex adult patients on inpatient units throughout the hospital. You will assess patients for medication-related issues, contribute to individualized medication management plans, and support safe transitions of care from admission through discharge. As hospitalist patients are often housed off service, this role involves coordinating care across multiple units and nursing teams. Responsibilities include daily hospitalist rounds, reviewing and verifying medication orders, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic assessments, and managing polypharmacy and high-risk medications. You will also support students and residents, mentor new staff, and guide Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians. This position requires availability for day, evening, night, and/or weekend shifts, as the site operates 24/7. The successful candidate is experienced with computerized order entry and drug information systems, works well within diverse teams, and maintains patient confidentiality. Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a compassionate, patient-focused approach and the flexibility to manage a caseload spread across the hospital. Effective English communication and professional accountability are required. The role includes visual and computer work, with occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling. AHS Pharmacy Services offers excellent opportunities for professional growth, continuing education, and career advancement—this is an opportunity to make a difference every day.
