Are you a motivated and dedicated Pharmacist interested in making a meaningful impact in patient care? AHS is seeking a skilled professional to join our pharmacy team at FMC. In this clinically deployed role, you will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to optimize antimicrobial therapy and medication management for patients with infectious diseases. You will assess patients for medication-related issues, contribute to treatment plans, and help optimize therapeutic outcomes in the acute inpatient setting. This clinically deployed, hospital-based position includes participation in Infectious Diseases rounds, collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and direct patient care. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying medication orders, with a focus on antimicrobial stewardship, therapeutic drug monitoring, dose optimization, and management of complex infections. You will provide evidence-based recommendations regarding antimicrobial therapy and support quality improvement initiatives, special access medications, and pharmacy education through mentorship and student precepting. This position requires availability for day, evening, night, and/or weekend shifts, as the site operates 24/7. The successful candidate is experienced with computerized medication order entry and drug information systems, works well within diverse teams, and maintains patient confidentiality. Strong critical thinking, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills are essential. As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacist.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Entry-to-practice degree (Bachelor of Science or PharmD) in Pharmacy. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. Demonstrated knowledge of infectious diseases pharmacotherapy, antimicrobial stewardship principles, and therapeutic drug monitoring. Ability to assess and resolve medication-related issues in complex patients and apply evidence-based literature to clinical decision-making. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills in a fast-paced clinical environment. Experience with computerized provider order entry, electronic health records, and drug information resources. Commitment to patient safety, continuous quality improvement, and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited hospital pharmacy residency and/or PharmD program. Additional Prescribing Authorization at time of hire or within the first year of employment and authorization to administer injections. Recent hospital pharmacy experience in infectious diseases, internal medicine, hematology/oncology, critical care, or antimicrobial stewardship is preferred. Experience with student precepting, quality improvement, research, or committee work is an asset.
