Your Opportunity:

Do you love hiking or enjoy the fresh mountain air? Rocky Mountain House is calling! We are looking for a pharmacist who would like to provide an exceptional medication experience to patients as part of the Central Zone pharmacy team. The Rocky Mountain House Hospital supports 31 acute care beds primarily focused rural general medicine as well as supporting 2 busy OR suites. The Rocky Mountain House Hospital pharmacy team provides distribution and clinical services to acute care, the operating rooms, and emergency patients at the site, and when needed remote coverage support for sites in Central Zone. The Rocky Mountain House Hospital provides a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for pharmacists, where they provide care to patients as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team. The pharmacy department is supported by a team of pharmacy technicians and assistants working towards their full scope of practice to allow the pharmacists to focus on clinical activities utilizing their full scope, spending the day engaging with patients.

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position, dependent on eligibility. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacist would be an asset. Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Rural hospital experiences an asset
