We are looking for a highly motivated healthcare professional to be part of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital clinical operations structure. The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) is the largest freestanding tertiary rehabilitation hospital in Canada serving patients of all ages who require complex and specialized rehabilitation to enable them to participate in life to the fullest. As a leading-edge fully accredited academic teaching hospital, the GRH participates in education training programs for science, technology, engineering, and medical professionals and offers an array of research and technology development opportunities. As the Patient Care Manager of the Adult Spinal Cord Injury and General Neurology Program, you will have management responsibility for Unit 3B, the associated clinics and services, and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Navigation team. You will be responsible for the overall direction and management of a busy and progressive Integrated team to ensure that safe, timely, comprehensive, and quality coordinated care is provided. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with various teams within the hospital, expanding your experience and knowledge of the specialized services the GRH offers. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with patients, and families as partners in care, is essential in the delivery of safe, high-quality care and is important in contributing to a positive working culture of teamwork and respect. Reporting to the Adult Rehabilitation Director, GRH, you would be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-focused care for the assigned clinical operations unit(s) and/or program(s). The Patient Care Manager is accountable for the overall operational leadership for the assigned unit(s) and/or program(s). This includes participating in strategic and operational planning, fostering a culture of high quality, collaborative care, continuous improvement, ensuring the effective deployment of resources and contributing to the development of and implementing operational plans. The Patient Care Manager works with staff, other leaders, physician partners, and Nursing Professional Practice to ensure that new research/ evidence and best practices are integrated into service provisions. The Patient Care Manager has Financial Management accountability to plan, determine, manage, and monitor assigned budget(s), authorize expenditures and have complete accountability for multi-faceted budgets. The Patient Care Manager has People Resource Management accountability for the supervision of staff, recruitment, and coaching/mentoring.

Required Qualifications:

Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment within an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrated strategic thinking, including the ability to consider long-term goals and assess options and implications. Proven ability to lead and manage change, and to develop innovative solutions to complex and diverse challenges. Demonstrated capability in managing diverse human, financial, and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, a client-focused orientation, and a commitment to the delivery of high-quality, sustainable services. Experience collaborating effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Solid knowledge of patient care service delivery models and healthcare systems. Knowledge of management and leadership processes within a healthcare context. Understanding of healthcare refocus and system transformation. Knowledge of research methodology and the ability to apply evidence to practice. Demonstrated ability to lead progressive patient care services aligned with a refocused healthcare system. Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to select effective approaches based on sound judgment. Proven ability to build constructive and collaborative working relationships. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills. Demonstrated success in leading teams and promoting a culture of teamwork. Effective financial management skills, including budgeting, measurement, and performance monitoring. Ability to manage within approved budgets. Proactive, results-oriented approach to planning, problem-solving, and strategy implementation. Strong change management expertise and the ability to manage a diverse scope of responsibilities. Demonstrated business management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program – Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation and strong understanding of the continuum of services provided to diverse client populations with knowledge of patient flow priorities. Understanding of Collaborative Care principles and experience with WFM scheduling and Connect Care.
