Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be currently registered with CLPNA with a CLPNA recognized orthopedic training program. Must have at least two years experience in an orthopedic clinic. Working knowledge of the medical and surgical conditions seen in the orthopedic clinic. Knowledge of precautions and considerations relating to conditions seen in the orthopedic clinic (e.g. Infection control procedures). Working knowledge of clean/sterile techniques and dressing changes related to wound care. Determine and complete safe transfers/lifts of patients in the orthopedic clinic. Perform the required range of casting/splinting techniques with skill and efficiency. Interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff in a professional manner. Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in carrying out all responsibilities. Work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Effective organizational skills. Must be flexible and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists (CSOT) certificate an asset.
