Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
Additional Required Qualifications:Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician from the Joint Commission of Allied Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required. Current Heart & Stroke Foundation CPR (BCLS-HCP) required. Minimum three years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician in a healthcare setting, in a hospital eye clinic or an ophthalmologist’s office. Preference given to those with tertiary care experience. Attention to detail. Commitment to ongoing learning. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Ability to demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Ability to demonstrate communications skills that promote respect and a positive team environment. Experience with Netcare & Connect Care required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with patients of varied visual and physical impairments where assistance may be required. Strong organizational skills and supports efficient workflows. Incumbent should have effective interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills including experience in Microsoft Outlook, & MS Teams.
