Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. You must be highly engaging, motivational, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. You must be able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You have held positions of leadership or demonstrated strong leadership attributes in other roles. You are effective working independently and as a part of the team. You create strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers, patients and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively and is able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks. You have effective teaching skills for students and other professionals. You have experience leading a group through significant practice or organizational change. You have lead or supervised teams of 3 or more. Basic proficiency in Connect Care required. Must be able to work weekends and able to lift and carry greater than 50lb weight, and transfer patients and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:Experiences with the complex patient populations (chronic disease management, orthopedics, end of life, trauma, post ICU, and dementia), assessment and treatment skills (splinting, edema management, wound care, cognition and discharge planning) and different environments (acute, community, LTC) are assets. Experience assigning, supervising, and evaluating tasks provided to therapy assistants is preferred. Connect Care training is preferred.
