Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists to grow and strengthen your skills and work at your full scope of practice as a Nurse Clinician within a collaborative team at the Rockyview General Hospital. Unit 47 is a general medical unit. This is a key leadership role on our unit. Working in collaboration with the Management team, the Nurse Clinician is responsible for the overall coordination of the unit, coordinating patient care to ensure discharge planning in a comprehensive and efficient manner to the population served. The Nurse Clinician responsibilities include overseeing and providing direct care to patients (including having a patient assignment), maintaining standards of care and providing feedback and coaching to staff and collaboration with Management. The Nurse Clinician participates in facilitating appropriate changes to structure, processes and procedures in order to achieve optimal outcomes in patient care, quality care and resource utilization. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate: critical thinking, organization and conflict resolution skills; interpersonal and communication skills; build and maintain relationships with patients, families and the interdisciplinary team; patient teaching, advocacy and patient and family centered care; show initiative and independence; be adaptable and flexible in a changing environment; and foster positive relationships in a team environment.

Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years experience as a Nurse Clinician in an adult acute medical unit (urban) within the last 5 years. Demonstrated leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Strong communication skills essential. Demonstrated ability to work at full scope of practice. Collaborative problem solving and critical thinking ability. Experience in organizing daily staffing assignments. Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment and manage high stress situations effectively and calmly. Demonstrated ability to provide quality bedside patient care independently. Experience using Connect Care. Able to handle the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to walking, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of the shift. Safe transferring of adult patients of varying mobility, transporting supplies and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Coaching and Mentorship experience an asset. Additional change management/leadership qualifications preferred. Demonstrated ability to direct workflow and manage bed capacity to meet needs of the site.
