Your Opportunity:

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health professional to temporarily join the Care, Outreach, Regulation, and Engagement (CORE) Team located at the Edmonton Community Health Hub North. The MHT’s role within this specialized team is to engage and provide effective, evidence-based therapy for individuals living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) who require a higher tier of support within Addiction and Mental Health (AMH).This service has been designed to provide responsive, flexible, assertive evidence-based treatment for individuals with BPD who are at high risk of self-harm, functional and social problems, and frequent use of urgent/crisis services. The MHT works intensively with a small caseload, using a structured case management approach for BPD, behavior plans, and must have very good boundaries and professional insight. This MHT is one who enjoys advocating for the rights and needs of people with BPD and believes in the capacity of those with emotion dysregulation to recover and live fulfilling, productive lives. The MHT provides direct, evidence-based therapy to individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation and features consistent with BPD. The MHT is highly skilled in comprehensive risk assessment and management, including monitoring chronic suicidal and non-suicidal self-injury and development of individualized safety plans. This clinician demonstrates a strong capacity to establish therapeutic alliance, maintain trust, and effectively navigate relationship impasses. The MHT must balance empathy and validation with the ability to set firm, appropriate limits and boundaries. Our team focuses heavily on enhancing clinical skills for ongoing high-quality care, clinical supervision, and team building.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following: Master’s degree in psychology; master’s degree in social work with clinical specialization, including training in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in occupational therapy with training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master’s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy. Active registration or eligibility for registration with the applicable regulatory college (CAP, ACOT, ACSW, or CARNA) is required. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or addiction concerns in a therapist role. Experience using Connect Care is considered an asset. The candidate will have strong group facilitation skills and training in evidence-based therapies such as DBT (Behavior Tech), CBT, ACT. Concurrent capability is an asset, and candidates with this training will be given priority.
