Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled, team oriented and dynamic individual to join our Addiction and Mental Health Adult Outreach Team. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to older adults and seniors experiencing addiction and/or mental health issues. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. You will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and have a demonstrated ability to work with older adults and seniors experiencing addiction and/or mental health issues. Your responsibilities will also include liaising and working in partnership with community stakeholders, other professionals and physicians in the continuum of Addiction and Mental Health care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and considerable experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Restricted Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing with: A related master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience working with older adults impacted by addiction and/or mental health issues. Experience in liaising and working in partnership with community stakeholders, other professionals and physicians in the continuum of Addiction and Mental Health care.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload. NVCI certification, BLS/first aid and suicide intervention training preferred. Previous experience with screening tools (GAS, GDS and SLUMS), assessment and provision of psychotherapy with seniors preferred. Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience working in a community-based health care setting with older adults impacted by addiction and/or mental health issues preferred. Previous experience with connect care preferred.
