Recovery Alberta (RA) is seeking a passionate and energetic Mental Health Therapist (MHT) looking to make a meaningful impact. This role is working Monday to Friday at the Wood Buffalo Addiction & Mental Health Services (WAMHS) in Fort McMurray. We’re seeking a dynamic individual to work with clients of all ages in both one-on-one and group settings. Your superior communication skills will be essential as you deliver psychosocial interventions using a variety of treatment modalities—including individual, family, and group therapy—for individuals experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. You’ll work both independently and as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, providing evidence-informed care through crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment. We are looking for an individual who believes in delivering the highest standard of patient- and family-centered care in a community context. Located in beautiful Fort McMurray which resides on Treaty 8 territory, and on the traditional lands of the Metis. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, RA currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Seeking a generalist Mental Health Therapist with experience or training in providing counselling services. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
