Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta. Minimum 6 years’ recent addiction and mental health experience including 2 years community. Extensive experience conducting mental health/risk assessments with a provisional diagnosis. Solid knowledge of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to various clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems. Comprehensive knowledge of co-existing medical and mental illnesses which significantly impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalized populations. Experience working from a concurrent capable perspective. Comprehensive knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act and legislation. Significant comfort with working with forensic clients who may pose a danger to the community. Strong crisis assessment, de-escalation and stabilization skills are required. High degree of creativity and flexibility to engage and work with a diverse client population with complex needs. Significant level of physical fitness as the assertive outreach is active and may involve walking lengthy distances. Basic computer skills. Ability to work in stressful, demanding and changing conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and multi system partnership. Successful completion of Calgary Police Service Enhanced Security Clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with forensic clients/population. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and agencies.
