Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience in the last 5 years providing both mental health assessments and single session therapy to individuals with addiction and mental health concerns. Certified training with a minimum of 2 years applied experience in the last five years in individual therapy modalities, specifically requiring two of the following: DBT, CBT, MI or SFT. Advanced crisis management skills including suicide risk assessments, intervention and treatment, de-escalation skills and the ability to triage the client’s wellness. BLS.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree preferred. Strong knowledge of medical co-morbidities, psychotropic medications, and DSM 5 with experience providing provisional diagnosis. Experience with complex addiction and mental health presentations with multiple barriers to wellness. Experience within an acute, urgent care, or crisis setting preferred. Knowledge of community resources and the referral path ways. NVCI.
