Alberta Health Services (AHS) is now seeking such a person for the role of Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) at the new, state-of-the-art Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, which opened in 2021. This 243-bed facility also houses a regional cancer centre and serves approximately 300,000 residents of Grande Prairie and the surrounding area. Grande Prairie is in the heart of the Peace Country and qualifies for the Northern Incentive of up to $6,300 annually, on top of your base pay and benefits. Grande Prairie is a vibrant, youthful, and multicultural city and the largest in Northern Alberta, but you can get most places you need to go within about 15 minutes! In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Highly developed communication skills. Evidence of effective decision making and collaboration working with others.
