Required Qualifications:

MD with a PhD, MSc or equivalent in a cancer prevention or health related area (e.g. epidemiology, population health). FRCPC with specialty in Public Health and Preventive Medicine is desirable (or CCFP with additional training in public health.) A minimum of 5 years of experience in cancer control or prevention in a health sector setting. Seasoned professional adept at working with cancer or chronic disease prevention stakeholders. Ability to build effective networks and to sustain them. The position requires expertise in developing strategies and setting priorities along with knowledge, expertise and experience in three areas: cancer epidemiology, health promotion/cancer prevention and cancer screening. The incumbent must be politically astute and able to manage and engage multiple stakeholder perspectives in order to develop and obtain agreement and support for an effective strategic approach to population-based cancer prevention in Alberta.


Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a health care organization and/or academic setting. Proven experience managing multiple projects, strategic development and health service operations. In addition the position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and expertise in proposal and grant writing, strategy planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
