Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline. Current registration with the appropriate professional association. A minimum of 5 years of obstetrical and/or Pediatric experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity with focus on postpartum, newborn and pediatric care. Minimum two years previous experience in an informal or formal health services leadership role, ideally in a Women's and Children's environment. Experience in project planning, development, implementation and evaluation.


Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Consistently role models AHS values. Ability to balance multiple, competing demands and conflicting priorities. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, based on a framework of patient and family centered care, safety and quality improvement. Effective facilitator of proven change management principles within teams, and ability to motivate others to achieve organizational goals. Effective communication skills. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Inter-professional and inter-personal conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Self-directed when appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications:

Masters of Nursing preferred. Certifications in PEARS, PALS, STORC, NRP, ACORN, Breastfeeding/Lactation Consultant an asset. Experience with Baby Friendly Initiative an asset.
