Description:
The operations manager at the University of Alberta Hospital is a key leadership role and reports to the Director of Pharmacy. This position is responsible for providing leadership and organization over activities at the UAH in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services and Pharmacy Services. The position is responsible for establishing and contributing to the goals of the Pharmacy Department. The operations manager will develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders, including patient care area leaders, zone and site support services, and union representatives to ensure that issues impacting pharmacy are identified and addressed. The operations manager of the pharmacy department will participate in strategic planning for pharmacy within their assigned areas of accountability. The manager operationalizes approved plans to ensure program delivery is consistent with broader organizational objectives. The position is responsible for managing operations, utilization, and quality improvement activities at the UAH, in collaboration with other members of the management team. The operations manager is responsible for the direct supervision of pharmacy technicians and assistants and works with the pharmacy director to determine the human, financial and material resources within the assigned program areas. This will include planning for staff, training, budget, equipment and supply requirements, monitoring expenditures, and identifying trends and variances.

Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
Additional Required Qualifications:At least three years of hospital pharmacy technician experience Clear pattern of planned, purposeful professional development
Preferred Qualifications:Decision making, coaching and teaching skills Ability to inspire and build confidence in others Project management and clinical experience. Volunteer work with a pharmacy technician professional organization Sterile compounding and purchasing experience. Able to collaborate and achieve organizational goals within a unionized environment. Strong communication and organizational skills Able to create solutions for complex / diverse issues and manage change (PROSCI or equivalent)
