Your Opportunity:

The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) is the only regional referral centre for Central Corridor, providing specialized healthcare services to more than 450,000 people across a geographically diverse catchment. RDRHC is entering an exciting period of major redevelopment, including 200 additional inpatient beds (for a total of 570), six new operating rooms, and two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Labs! Reporting to the Director of Emergency, Critical Care, and Cardiac Sciences, the Patient Care Manager (PCM) will support the Cardiac Cath Lab, Unit 22 (Inpatient Cardiology), CCU, in addition to Cardiology Diagnostics. As the PCM with experience in an advanced cardiac interventional program, you will bring a strong record of building high-performing teams, foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion, and delivering measurable results aligned with patient- and family-centred care. In this role, the PCM will contribute to strategic planning for the cardiac program, and ensure the responsible stewardship of human, material, and capital resources to meet patient needs safely and effectively. You will oversee safe delivery of cardiac services, budget management, variance analysis, standards of practice, patient care pathways, participate in provincial cardiac initiatives, collaborate on quality assurance and improvement framework, workforce planning, performance management, program development and the promotion of a safe and healthy work environment. Description:

The Patient Care Manager is a key leadership role within the Cardiac Sciences program, responsible for advancing high-quality, accessible, sustainable, patient- and family-centred care across the portfolio. Within this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership aligned with AHS’ strategic direction, values, and vision. You will bring an in-depth knowledge of Cardiac Cath Lab operations and a strong understanding of care delivery across the full cardiac care continuum. You will drive program development and optimization within a fiscally responsible framework while fostering a culture grounded in safety, continuous quality improvement, and accountability. As a visible and collaborative leader within Cardiac Sciences, you will champion innovation, operational excellence, and meaningful system improvement. The PCM must have a proven track record of administrative and leadership success demonstrated through the following competencies: facilitation, communication, change management and mentoring skills. You will have the ability to inspire and achieve innovation, effectively build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders and effectively build teams. As the PCM, you will partner with Medical Leaders in the Cardiac Sciences Division to plan, implement, and evaluate program initiatives that enhance patient experience and outcomes. The role collaborates broadly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent quality and equitable access to care across the health care continuum.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years of recent operational leadership experience in an acute care setting required; experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or interventional cardiology environment preferred. Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Registration with a health profession. A master’s degree in health leadership, health administration, or related field preferred


Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care, Oracle, ePeople, and working knowledge of Windows based computer applications. Strong customer service skills including fiscal management, resources management and quality improvement is a key requirement of the role.


Preferred Qualifications:

Catheterization Lab experience preferred. CICU or CVICU experience preferred. Related master’s degree preferred.
