The Manager – Audiology, SLP and Children’s Development is a leadership role within the Southeast Corridor Allied Health portfolio and reports directly to the Director of Allied Health. The position collaborates closely with and is supported by the Allied Health leadership team. This role is responsible and accountable for leading the team in the strategic planning, delivery, and evaluation of services that support the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services (AHS). The Manager fosters a service culture that promotes teamwork, quality patient care, accountability, and staff satisfaction. Children’s Allied Health is an integrated, interdisciplinary healthcare team consisting of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, case managers, and clerical support. The Manager develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders to provide operational leadership and oversee all related programs and services. The role also provides expert counsel to the Director, Allied Health, on clinical engagement strategies and initiatives. Additionally, the Manager builds and maintains positive relationships with local, provincial, and national stakeholders, including government departments and officials, within a multi-ministerial partnership environment.
Description:
Strategic & Program Leadership: Participate in strategic and operational planning. Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of pediatric rehabilitation and audiology programs. Contribute to AHS-wide policies and procedures for pediatric rehab and audiology. Foster innovation, integration, and consistency of patient- and family-centered care. Operational Management: Lead clinical program operations within the assigned area. Ensure effective deployment of human resources. Promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace. Manage staffing to support employee and physician engagement and performance. Financial Oversight: Ensure appropriate allocation of fiscal resources. Manage and report on operating budgets. Conduct budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring in alignment with AHS policies. Quality & Performance Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement. Lead change management initiatives to enhance clinical operations. Ensure patient safety standards and protocols are followed consistently. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal leaders, external partners, and provincial programs. Build strong relationships across the healthcare system. Support integration across programs and services. Patient & Family Experience: Act as first point of contact for most patient/family concerns. Triage and manage issues, escalating when required.

Minimum of post-secondary education in a relevant health profession. Registration with an appropriate Alberta Regulated Health Profession. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment within a large, complex, and diverse organization. Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to assess long-term goals, options, and implications. Proven ability to lead and manage change, including developing innovative solutions to complex challenges. Experience managing diverse human, financial, and physical resources in a complex environment. Strong organizational skills and a client-focused orientation with commitment to high-quality care. Experience collaborating effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. Demonstrated leadership skills, including: Effective communication. Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in a rehabilitation focused profession such as Speech Language Pathology. Previous formal leadership/management experience or formal leadership education. Experience leading a multidisciplinary team.
