Reporting to the Allied Health Patient Care Manager (PCM), you will have direct accountability for Physiotherapy and adjacent programs. As the Unit Manager, you will engage with a diverse group of site leaders and physicians in supporting your team’s ability to deliver inpatient and outpatient services that are high quality, accessible, and evidence based. Your day-to-day responsibilities include employee recruitment and supervision (team of approximately 80), coaching and performance management, budgetary oversight, and facilitating the achievement of strategic goals within the portfolio, ACH and the organization. Description:
The Unit Manager: Allied Health is a leadership role within the ACH Ambulatory Portfolio and reports directly to the Patient Care Manager, Allied Health. The Unit Manager is responsible and accountable for providing direction, team leadership and organization of clinical operations and patient care delivery. The position is accountable for making clinic/service-level decisions, has direct leadership responsibility for the development and achievement of clinic/service level goals and objectives, and contributes to the development and achievement of the goals of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Ambulatory Portfolio. Duties include human resource management such as staff recruitment, coaching and performance management and facilitating the achievement of strategic goals for all areas of the portfolio in collaboration with the program staff, Discipline Leaders, Physician dyads and Patient Care Manager. The Unit Manager is expected to participate in change management, program development, fiscal accountability, and operational direction for the program and the site.

Minimum of five years of relevant progressive clinical experience. Three years of progressive leadership or management experience. Proven leadership and organizational skills. Demonstrated effective collaboration with physicians, discipline leaders and other program leadership. Excellent communication and facilitation skills in a multidisciplinary team environment. Self-directed and highly motivated. Creative and adaptable. Ability to function effectively in dynamic situations. Demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution, change leadership, and coaching for performance. Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with staff, physicians, and program leadership. Ability to complete qualitative and quantitative analysis. Computer skills.
