This is your opportunity to utilize your building and equipment skill in a hospital setting. We are in search of a Casual Maintenance Worker IV to support the Facilities, Maintenance & Engineering department at Alberta Children's Hospital.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker IV, you will perform a variety of highly skilled and complex maintenance and repair work requiring considerable initiative and judgment in determining the appropriate work methods consistent with standards, regulations and procedures. You will utilize your supervisory and/or maintenance skills and experience to perform preventative maintenance and repair duties on specialized equipment and building control systems, and to provide leadership and direction to other maintenance staff in order to meet operational requirements. In addition, you will perform specialized machine repairs, as well as the maintenance and monitoring of systems and equipment. You may be responsible to resolve escalated operational issues; act as a delegate for the Manager on operational issues; participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff; assisting the design and implementation of preventative maintenance programs; estimate project costs; and liaise with outside agencies and contractors.

Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must hold a current 4th class Power Engineering Certification issued by ABSA. Must have minimum of 3 years of experience in hospital or institutional setting. Must be flexible and available to accommodate last minute and scheduled 8-12 hrs. Strong skill and knowledge of Low- and high-pressure steam, hydronic heating, HVAC and BMS (siemens insight). Able to adapt to a changing priority environment. Strong "customer service" communication skills. Must be fluent in writing, reading and speaking English. Must be physically fit, Able to walk long distances, standing throughout a shift. Able to lift 20kg regularly to waist height daily, push pull heavy materials. Able to work in varying indoor and outdoor climates.
Preferred Qualifications:Comfortable working in a pediatric hospital directly in patient care areas. Must be confident and independent as this position may require working alone on night shift, while being able to work in a Team setting.
