Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:5 years’ experience in maintenance/repair and construction of building and finishes within the health care environment including framing, insulating, and surfacing walls according to drawings. Experience in installing White-Rock wall protection, carpeting, and ceramic tile. Experience with vinyl sheet flooring repair. Experience with minor furniture repair such as shelving, cupboards, and tables following safe work practices.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference to those with a building trade. Certification in Mold Abatement, Asbestos Abatement. Ability to understand simple schematic drawings, read blueprints, equipment repair manuals, and manufacturer installation instruction and specifications. Experience with Regulations, Building codes, WHMIS, and Occupational Health, Safety Guidelines, and Infection Prevention & Control Procedures and Standards.
