Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Diagnostic Imaging Team, you will work in a dynamic interdisciplinary environment with other service teams as part of the University of Alberta Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Mazankowski Hearth Institute, and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. Our MRI Technologists are accountable for providing and delivering high quality patient care and MRI services in an effective, efficient, safe, and timely manner. Responsibilities include ensuring a high standard in patient and staff MRI Safety, preparing and positioning patients as per department protocols, operating the MRI equipment and optimizing image quality, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all patient record information, collaborating with a variety of healthcare providers, adhering to all applicable lawful regulations, policies, and procedures. MRI technologists assume an active role in continuing competency education, quality improvement processes, participates in student clinical training, and contribute to department, equipment, and physical facility upkeep and performance. This position requires the employee to work all assigned department shifts and locations across the site including evenings, weekends, overtime, and on-call. Supports any operational process needs and changes. Assumes an active role in key performance expectations and opportunities for growth and improvement.

Description:

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience in an acute care Adult and Pediatric Centre. Active registration and good standing with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Demonstrated maintenance with AHS Required Organizational Learning (ROL) and ACMDTT Continuing Competence Program (CCP). Additional and enhanced practice authorization for venipuncture through ACMDTT. Demonstrated interest in achieving all of personal, department, and technological growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in Radiant workflows and practice with UAH/Stollery/MAHI/KEC site protocols and MRI equipment as an asset. Enhanced practice authorization through the ACMDTT for Medication Administration. Availability to pick-up additional hours beneficial.
