Your Opportunity:

AHS is partnered with MacEwan University to provide the Perioperative Nursing Program, which consists of 10 weeks of in-class and online theory learning, 60 hours of laboratory education, and 380 hours of clinical practicums. Upon successful completion of the Perioperative Nursing Certificate, you will have the knowledge and skills required to provide safe perioperative patient care in accordance with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA), the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC), CSA standards, AHS policies, and the individual LPN scope of practice. In this role, you will support continuity of care between the operating room and patient care areas, advocate for patients, and provide safe, effective, and efficient care in both scrub and circulating roles. Practice will range from foundational to increasingly complex perioperative nursing activities based on the LPN’s education, demonstrated competence, individual scope of practice, employer policies, and the needs of the patient. Upon successful completion of the program and conclusion of this temporary position, there may be an opportunity to apply for vacant LPN positions within the Rockyview General Hospital Operating Room and Alberta Health Services.
