Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Facility Manager with Facilities Maintenance and Engineering for the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and working under the general direction of the Structural Lead Hand, the Locksmith is responsible for all aspects of the key control program; The incumbent will support and update of the hospital “master” hierarchy and retention of the secure integrity thereof, cutting, logging and secure distribution of authorized keys, service, repair and/or replacement of mechanical and electronic locks (keyed and keyless) and associated hardware, identification and correction of access control concerns. Work is performed in accordance with existing key control policies and procedures. The primary location will be at the Royal Alexandra Hospital but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by FM&E Director or Manager.
Description:
As a Locksmith, you will perform a wide variety of journey level locksmith duties associated with installation, maintenance, upgrade and repair of all door hardware and lock systems. You will create, control and maintain the key control program in accordance with building codes, blueprints, standards and practices.

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Locksmith Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 Diploma. 4 years minimum experience in the Locksmith field. Must have patience, attention to detail and strong Mechanical aptitude. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience within a hospital environment; Previous related maintenance experience in an industrial or institutional setting is an asset. Experience working with electronic door controls would be and asset.
