At Alberta Health Services (AHS), we are currently looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Family Medicine Unit at the Leduc Community Hospital. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient, the LPN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The LPN participates in nursing assessment/interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatment, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient response. The LPN will also participate in quality monitoring activities and facilitates patient and family centered education and discharge planning in accordance with the established standards, and the vision, values, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. The LPN will work within the identified scope of practice of the Unit of hire, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and practice according to the policy and procedures set out by AHS and maintain competent practice and provides care according to CLPNA regulations. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Successful completion of CLPNA modules – Standards of Practice on Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice as well as certifications in required competencies. Basic keyboarding/computer skills required. Excellent communication skills required. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability. Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment, involving constant walking, bending, and lifting 50 lbs. or over.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working within the CoACT framework and Connect Care experience preferred. Experience in care of medical, post-operative surgical, orthopedic, and Subacute patients is desired. ACLS certification favored. IV Therapy and PICC certification preferred. Must have at least 1 year of acute care experience.
