Your Opportunity:

Join the Short Stay Surgery Unit at the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) — a Level 1 Trauma Center and one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals. As part of the Adult Operative Services portfolio, you’ll work alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team preparing patients for scheduled surgery and providing phase 2 post-anesthetic care to post-operative ambulatory patients. This fast-paced, dynamic unit is a great place to build broad surgical nursing experience — spanning specialties from Neurosurgery and Ortho Trauma to Transplant and Spine — while helping deliver safe, high-quality, family-centred care. You’ll collect and track patient health data from pre-op through discharge, and have the opportunity to precept new staff and students along the way. Staggered start times across days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Occasional extended shifts.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
