Your Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Nurse Clinician, Charge Nurse and GI Managers, the LPN provides quality and collaborative patient and family-centred care within the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy Department on the Endoscopy Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre. The LPN is an integral member of the Endoscopy care team. LPN’s are the primary care provider to Endoscopy patients; primary responsibilities are: Admitting patients to the admission/recovery room, performing patient assessments, IV initiation, providing post-procedure patient care and discharge teaching. To fully support Gastroenterology services, the successful candidate may be cross trained to work in various areas of Gastroenterology, including the GI outpatient clinic in AREA 2 UCMC. Current hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 0700-1815hrs. However, these hours may change to meet operational requirements

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous 2-3 years’ experience in an acute care setting required. Previous experience in gastroenterology and in and endoscopy required. Previous experience recovering patients from procedural sedation. Experience with Connect Care (LUMENS) required. Ability to function independently and within a fast-paced team environment required. Professional, respectful and caring approach with solid work ethic required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, supporting the AHS Workplace Competencies. Ability to communicate verbally and written in English required. Effective time management and organizational skills required. Proven ability to collaborate to promote quality teamwork required. Ability to promote quality patient and family centered care required. Ability to adapt to change and be flexible with an approach to daily duties required. Intermediate computer skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification and experience in IV therapy preferred.
