Your Opportunity:

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital offers acute and outpatient care including 24-hour emergency services. You will be a member of an integrated service delivery team providing care and treatment to clients in the Emergency Department, using professional knowledge, clinical judgment, technical and interpersonal skills. You will provide care to patients within the guidelines and standards of CLPNA. You will work with a high functioning team who collaborate to share information and support each other and you will gain inclusive and approachable leaders who emphasize training, orientation and professional development. You will be able to advance your clinical skills in multiple areas of practice. The LPN provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Working within the full scope of practice, the LPN observes, monitors, reports, and documents changes in the patient's physical, mental, and emotional state, assists the patient with activities of daily living and provides the patient and family with relevant information and teaching. The LPN is responsible to collaborate as a member of the health care team, delivering consistent quality care to meet the needs of the patient. You will participate in quality monitoring activities.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of experience tertiary care, emergency, or critical care unit. Minimum of two (2) years working experience in medicine, surgery unit, or non-tertiary emergency within the last five (5) years. Excellent prioritization and assessment skills. Strong communication skills. The ability to be flexible and agile in an ever-changing environment. Demonstrated compassion and a strong focus on patient-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). Previous experience as a triage nurse.
