Nestled 58kms southwest of Calgary in beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta, the vibrant Oilfields General Hospital offers an excellent rural nursing opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta Health Services care facility. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Acute Care works in a Patient Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the patients and their families in a home like setting. Along with working on the 15-bed medical unit the LPN will be working in the Emergency Department. The LPN will work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines including RNs, Health Care Aides, Rehabilitation Staff, Recreation Therapy, Pharmacy and the Physicians group with the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health. The LPN provides leadership through assessment, planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of patient care. The LPN actively engages in health promotion, chronic disease management and enhancing the patient’s activities of daily living. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:1-year recent experience up to full time equivalent in a similar acute care setting. Demonstrated Nursing experience in a leadership role required. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. Demonstrated critical thinking, effective decision making and conflict resolution skills. The LPN requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:1-year recent experience up to full-time equivalent working in an emergency department. 1-2 years Nursing Experience in an Adult Clinical Care Setting. Demonstrated Palliative Care experience. Demonstrated education and experience with wound care. Current ACLS.
