The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the health care team, providing care to cardiology patients within the CLPNA scope of practice. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.. Unit 49 is a strong team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers. The successful candidate needs to be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for all, care providers, patients and families.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current CLPNA registration is required. Current BCLS Level C required. Previous acute care medical nursing experience required. Previous Cardiology nurse experience required. Demonstrated ability to perform and document physical assessments. Demonstrated ability to administer medications within the acute care setting. Demonstrated critical thinking skills re clinical judgment and problem solving. Recent experience in an acute care setting at full scope of practice required. Recent experience in caring for medical/cardiac patients required. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal communication skills. Basic computer skills are an asset. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies.
