The hospital is conveniently located near transit, parks and shops in the heart of the Mill Woods neighbourhood. Unit 42 is a 32 bed surgical unit serving over 3000 Albertans per year. The services we have comprise mainly of: General Surgery, Gynecological Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, ENT and Plastic Surgery. Unit 42 is a very busy, acute surgical unit that requires a high functioning team environment. Please note: Number of hours per shift and shifts per cycle are for information purposes only.

Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent surgical or acute care nursing experience and/or a recent successful surgical preceptorship (within the last year) required.
Preferred Qualifications:Inpatient surgical experience within the last 2 years would be an asset.
