Your Opportunity:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the interdisciplinary Home Care team and is responsible for providing safe, quality, patient and family centred care in the community setting. Reporting to the Care Manager, Wetaskiwin Home Care, the LPN contributes to the coordination and delivery of care in accordance with established care plans, policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Using strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills, the LPN collaborates with clients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team to support client goals and facilitate access to appropriate internal and external resources. The LPN provides hands on nursing care, including wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and other related medical treatments, and participates in direct care activities as required.

You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Active registration and current practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Valid Alberta driver’s license with non Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) restrictions. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate: Ability to integrate Patient and Family Centred Care principles into practice. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of one (1) year of recent community nursing experience. Experience using Connect Care, Microsoft Office, and general computer applications. Wound care education and/or training. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Strong time management and prioritization skills. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to acquire new skills as required.
