Rockyview Ambulatory Clinics are currently recruiting for a casual Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN), reporting to the Unit Manager of Ambulatory Clinics. This position works collaboratively as a member of the team to ensure the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and education to meet the needs of the patients and families accessing the General Internal Medicine Clinic. Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is Calgary’s second largest tertiary care site. Located in the city’s Southwest, it provides acute, outpatient, critical care, surgical, medical, neonatal intensive care, mental health, seniors, women’s and emergency health services. The facility is home to two units dedicated to the Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone. Each year, RGH sees approximately 47,000 Medical Outpatients.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 1 year of acute medical nursing experience within the last 3 years. Experience with Connect Care, Netcare, and MS Office Suite. Experience in patient education. Experience managing emergency medical situations. Experience with prioritization, management of referrals and clinic workflow. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to function independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills. Demonstrated history of working collaboratively with physicians. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where continuous walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling, and transferring patients are required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in clinics focused on Infectious Diseases, Cardiology, GI, Nephrology, Urgent Assessment, Chronic Diseases, Internal Medicine and Respiratory Clinics preferred. Experience with prioritization, management of referrals and clinic workflow. Experience in patient education and telephone support.
